We know how important a supportive council can be for the success of your Community Land Trust’s project. That’s why we are pleased to share the Star Council Awards from the National Association of Local Council. So if you want to celebrate the hard work and dedication of a local council, councillor, clerk or county association for the support that they have given you, nominate them today.

The Star Council Awards are the only awards programme in England specifically designed to acknowledge the impact and contribution of local councils in their communities. The awards are open to all local councils, councillors, young councillors, clerks, and county associations across England.

This year, there are five award categories for which entrants can apply: Clerk of the Year, County Association of the Year, Young Councillor of the Year, Councillor of the Year, and Council of the Year. The award categories have been carefully selected to recognise excellence in different areas of local council operations and highlight the varied contributions made by councils across the country.

The nomination period for the awards will end on 28 July 2023. A panel of experts in the sector will evaluate the nominations. The winners will be announced and given their awards at a ceremony in the House of Lords on 29 November 2023.

Commenting on the announcement, Cllr Keith Stevens, NALC chair, said: “We’re delighted to have the Community Land Trust Network’s support for the awards. It is a fantastic opportunity for local councils, councillors, young councillors, clerks, and county associations to showcase their achievements and their vital work for their communities. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to support their communities.”
