Community-led housing can enable your residents to meet their own housing needs, providing homes that are permanently affordable to the sons and daughters of your towns and villages.
The National CLT Network offers a comprehensive range of services to help your authority make the most of the Community Housing Fund. We provide advice, support, and access to a network of technical experts with a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience.
We are part of a broad alliance of organisations working to promote community-led principles and support community-led housing in all its forms.
We can help local authorities make the most of the Community Housing Fund with four key services:
- Learning how to work with community-led housing groups.
- Aligning policies and procedures to create an enabling environment.
- Directly supporting new groups to start up and provide homes.
- Creating a local hub so the sector can support itself to grow.
We have a network of expert technical advisers and regional umbrella or 'hub' CLTs, which have helped to create over 175 CLTs around the country. This network provides us with strong local knowledge and partnerships. We would draw on this network, and a range of associates with experience in other parts of the community-led housing sector, to tailor support to your needs and aspirations.
If you want to set up a CLT yourself, we also provide a Start Up Fund which gives you access to free expert support and a grant to cover costs like incorporation. We also have a range of other funding and resources that may help.
