Funding
Awards For All is a small grant making scheme offering awards of between £300
and £10,000 to a variety of institutions, including not-for-profit groups
operating for community benefit. The programme is funded by the Big Lottery Fund
and funds projects which aim to improve their local communities. Grants cannot
be used for expenses such as staff costs or refurbishment of land or buildings
worth more than £25,000, but can be used for things such as the purchase of
equipment, transport costs, and training amongst others.
Some community groups may be multi-purpose organisations, aiming to provide a
mixture of homes, community economic regeneration, and green energy schemes. If
this is applicable to your community group then you may wish to explore the
government's
Community Builders Fund which provides both loan and grant investment into
multi-purpose and inclusive community organisations who seek to eventually
generate independent sources of income.
Community Development Foundation – Grassroots Grants: This stream of the
CDF’s grant programme offers small grants from £250 - £5,000 to volunteer-led
community groups based in England working for the benefit of their local
community.
Community Shares: You may also wish to pursue a community share issue in
order to generate community investment and avoid reliance on grant funding. For
advice and support on community share issues visit
Wessex Community
Assets and the
Community Shares website.
This National Lottery funding programme offers grants up to the value of
£50,000 for projects aimed at improving access to 'community spaces', such as
community gardens and parks, nature reserves, sports areas, or other public
areas which can help create improved local environments and increase the number
of people actively involved in practical environmental projects. The fund
operates on a rolling basis until January 2011.
