Managing the build process
Procurement refers to
the means by which you secure and employ a contractor to build your scheme. You
need to decide how you are going to do this from the start and in any case no
later than the date when you have obtained a planning permission.
The designs and construction methods you intend to use may strongly relate to
the method of procurement method you adopt to develop your scheme. The most
commonly used methods within the CLT sector are Design and Build or Turnkey
packages.
When the contract has been let you, ensuring the quality of the build process will involve the CLT in receiving reports on the contract’s progress,
possibly taking some decisions relating to the specification as the contract
advances; and becoming involved in the handover and defects liability processes.
