CLTs Step by Step Guide

This guide provides an introduction to the process of creating and developing a CLT, leading users through the initial stages of formation right through to managing properties and communicating with residents. It primarily refers to the process of forming a CLT with the purpose of providing local needs affordable housing. Please refer to the ‘CLTs for other assets’ section for further information aside from housing development.

Each section of the guide contains introductory advice and guidance prepared with all reasonable care and attention. However, this guide is not legally binding and the Nationl CLT Network cannot assume responsibility for any errors or omissions. Users should treat this as general information, not as instructive, and should take in-depth legal and technical advice where appropriate and prior to following any guidance contained here. They should also be aware that the issues discussed are subject to a changing political and legal environment and we do not assume responsibility or liability for the content of any third party websites or resources referenced in the guidance.

Each section has several sub-categories contained within. Each segment of the guide contains an introduction on the relevant topic and specific information pertaining to the subject. Model documents and links to further information are provided where appropriate (these may be out of date and will be updated by the National CLT Network shortly).
