THIS PROGRAMME IS CURRENTLY CLOSED. A NEW PROGRAMME WILL BE LAUNCHED AFTER APRIL 2017.
There are now two ways in which the National CLT Network can help you to meet and learn from other CLTs. You can join us and a CLT host at a See it and Believe it peer learning event or, if there is a particular CLT that interests you, the See it and Believe it Grants Programme will help you fund a one-to-one visit.

The See it and Believe it Grants Programme
How does it work?
Step 1: As a CLT or steering group, choose a CLT that you would like to visit, perhaps by browsing our list of Success Stories or finding out what CLTs there are local to you, and begin thinking about what you might like to find out from a visit to an established CLT.
You might want to get in touch with your Member or Start Up point of contact or with a regional CLT Umbrella, or contact the Network on 020 3764 1841, to discuss your ideas.
Step 2: Get in touch with the host, either directly or via the National CLT Network or your regional CLT Umbrella, and ask if they would be willing to host a visit.
Once you have a host on board in principle please have a look at our Guidance for Hosts and Visitors (a download of this guidance is available at the bottom of this page). Be sure to circulate this with your host. You can now begin to agree on some of the detail, such as:
- A date and time for your visit
- An itinerary for the day
- Topics you can discuss
- A fee for the host
Step 3: Apply to the National CLT Network for grant of up to £750 to cover reasonable costs for your visit. Eligible costs include:
- Transport costs
- Catering costs
- Venure hire and/or accommodation costs where necessary
- A fair and reasonable fee for the host
The application form is available as a download at the bottom of this page. Complete and return to the CLT Network via email.
Please note that there are a limited number of grants available and the Programme does not fund visits which have already taken place. Please try to submit applications for funding at least three weeks before the planned date for your visit.
After the visit please complete and return the report form so that we can report back to our funders about how effective these grants can be. A template report form is available at the bottom of this email.
Please see the downloads section at the bottom of this page for some examples of reports of other CLT visits.
Who can apply for a See it and Believe it grant?
To be eligible to apply for a See it and Believe it grant, your group must be a Member or Start Up affiliate of the National CLT Network, based in England or Wales. Click here to find out more about joining the Network.
See it and Believe it Events
According to CLTs across the country, meeting with other Community Land Trusts is often the best (and most inspiring) way of thinking about how to develop your scheme. The Network periodically runs See it and Believe it events, where CLTs gather together at an event hosted by a local CLT. Please see the events page to check if there are currently any See it and Believe it events due to be held at a CLT near to you. If there are no events currently planned, please do register your interest in an event being held at a CLT near to you in the future.
What can you expect?
Topics that are covered in the See it and Believe it events include: working with your local authority, sustainable construction, refurbishing empty properties, navigating the planning process and partnering with private developers.
If you have any questions about the See it and Believe it Peer Learning Programme or would like to arrange a visit, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact the Network via email or via telephone on 020 3764 1841.
The See it and Believe it Peer Learning Programme for CLTs is managed by the National CLT Network and funded by the Tudor Trust.
