Cornwall CLT : Innovative umbrella CLT for Cornwall

Cornwall Community Land Trust project ran as an experimental model prior to the setting up of CCLT in March 2007, with the purpose of examining how CLTs may be set up and supported across the county. The project was hosted by Cornwall Rural Housing Association, who continue to provide administrative support through a Service Level Agreement.

It is an "umbrella" CLT, both providing support to local communities wishing to establish their own CLTs, and bringing forward projects in its own right, where no local group has been identified to lead on development. CCLT has a development programme of 100 homes, and acts as a development agent for CRHA.

CCLT aims at the intermediate market for affordable housing, aimed mainly at persons and families in employment but also in housing need, who cannot access traditional products. As such, it acts as a complement to CRHA and other local housing association providers. CCLT has the explicit remit of developing shared equity and low cost, good quality homes, and has made successful use of the resale price covenant mechanism.
