CLT Awards 2012

We are proud of what Community Land Trusts do, and as part of our Annual Conference 2012, we want to celebrate the achievements of communities. We will be rewarding the Best in Class of CLTs and supporters of the CLT movement with three awards, two for CLTs and one for an individual or organisation that is not a CLT.

We are looking for outstanding achievement in the following 3 areas:

      • Community Engagement (CLTs only)
      • Innovation (CLTs only)
      • Exceptional Support for the Sector

How to nominate

You can nominate yourself, or someone else, in any category (or more than one). Just tell us, with examples, how you have achieved excellence in your chosen category.

As a guide, this should be approximately 500 words. Our nominations form is available here. Please return your completed form to the National CLT Network by email or post.

The deadline for nominations is 31st March.

Our judging criteria

  • Excellence in Community Engagement

The winning CLT has shown exceptional flair for engaging the community in their work. Its membership is open to all the community, which is well and widely represented, and it has demonstrated ingenuity and perseverance in getting people involved and sustaining that engagement.

The winning CLT may have given members of the community a voice as shareholders in the CLT, or involved them in the design and development of the scheme. This may include community members gaining apprenticeship or employment opportunities in the development of the scheme, if applicable.

  • Excellence in Innovation

The winning CLT has achieved significant progress with its scheme, despite sometimes experiencing challenging conditions, and has overcome these problems with great ingenuity, dedication, tact and diplomacy to arrive at a positive result for the community. It has helped the wider CLT movement by sharing its learning or motivating change.

  • Exceptional Supporter of Community Land Trusts

This category is open to individuals or organisations, which although not CLTs themselves, have shown exceptional readiness to support and promote the CLT movement. They might be expert advisers, lawyers, local authorities, housing associations, developers, enablers, consultants, financial institutions, journalists, QUANGOs or government institutions. Whatever their background, their engagement with the CLT movement has been significant. They have made great efforts to pioneer new solutions and to address the barriers experienced by community-led housing organisations.  They have enabled the CLT movement to grow and flourish.
